The Silver Eagle Has Landed - Again!

It's nice to see that Silver Eagle of Texas is still planting boxes after all of these years. That's the silver one on the right of the picture, along with original letterboxer, Tom Cooch on the left, both of whom were at our Back to Our Roots gathering back in June of 2009 in West Dover, VT. Tom is holding his logbook that contains the very first hand-carved letterbox in the United States - Prayer Rock. While this original carving by Susan Davis was washed away by the spring runoff from melting snow, Jay Drew carved a new stamp from the original image and that box is still in play.

Silver Eagle's newest boxes are listed on LBNA - Father of Rosenburg and Hangman Game 7. I don't know how he does it but be sure to check out Hangman. I tried 3 times and lost every time! Hope your luck is better than mine!

Speaking of Silver Eagle, he gifted Sue & I with our first official Texas pine cones to add to our collection that Friday night before Back to Our Roots. As you can see, everything is bigger in Texas!!!

These TX creations are in our rec room along with pine cones from all over the world - many brought to us by Bookworm of CT, the world traveler.
