Great Weekend . . . .

Sue & I finally got back to VT and had a great weekend. The weather on Saturday was terrific and we enjoyed Wilmington's Old Home Week Parade; a parade that brings Wilmington, VT born residents from all over the country to attend events. Saturday's highlight was a nice, old-fashioned parade down the main street on a picture perfect day.

On Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, Sue & I did some maintenance on 2 of our series of boxes that were planted for the Back to Our Roots gathering last year. The following series are fine: Leafing in the Past and A Story Rooted in Our Past as well as the single box, Jumpin' Java. Sadly, box #3 in the series Stories Rooted in Our Past is missing; the other 4 are fine. The Lazy Letterboxer has offered to re-carve box #3 in the future. For right now, we've updated the status on AQ as unavailable for box #3 only. It is so gratifying to see all the visitors these boxes have had since their inception at the Back to Our Roots gathering in June of 2009. Boxers keep coming to find these boxes; some as recent as last week.

Sunday, we planted a new letterbox, Valley View Saloon, which was the home of our Friday night New Boxers gathering dinner back in April. This pub-style box was a joint carving effort with RTRW carving the original event logo for our dinner and then Lazy Letterboxer adding some special surprises after the fact for our permanent placement. It's a beaut! Don't forget to have at least a cold drink here or a meal - the food is the best! The Letterboxing Ham told me the night of the pre-event gather that the Reuben sandwich was the best he'd ever had! And that's quite a compliment. This box is just like the various boxes available in all of the Dartmoor pubs and is dedicated to the carvers - RTRW and Deanne - kindred spirits in the love of the Moor. We go back again in 2013!

That's our weekend update - hope yours was a great one as well!
