Boxing with Mark & Sue

It's Been A While . . .

March 2, 2010

Since we've posted, hasn't it! But boy have we done an awful lot.

First, we've been working on two gatherings for this year The New Boxers Gathering that takes place at the end of April in West Dover, VT and the newly announced (and almost full) Bed & Boxing 3 that will take place in a mystery location in Vermont's Green Mountains. Arrangements have been made for both gatherings as well as a curriculum developed for the New Boxers seminar. If you want to attend either, we suggest you sign up right now before they are closed out completely.

Sue & I spent a great week in St. Augustine, Florida in February. We had time to rest and box and travel that area of the state. Thankfully our rental car had unlimited miles because we put on 1000 miles in a week; traveling as far south as Daytona Beach to as far north as almost the GA border. TRex from GA joined us for a long weekend at the end of our week and it was great to spend some quality time with him while we traveled around the area.

We had a little mini meet during our Florida stay and it was great to welcome some old friends like Kaaren and Dawn/Sits & Knits as well as meet some new friends from Michigan and Maine! Funny - our little mini meet had more people from out of state than Florida residents! Go figure. It was a great night and very good food.

While there, we planted 7 boxes that we hope to have clues posted real soon. While flying down to Florida, it occurred to me that the vacation time Sue & I spend together is so special. Only happens about 3 times a year and I got thinking about how short life is and the importance of taking time out of a busy life to enjoy or participate in certain things.

So - we planted a series of 6 boxes called "Take Time To . . . " which highlights some important callings and activities that we should all try and find time to enjoy. All 6 of these Pinecone Productions are carve by our fav carver - RTRW. She shows up with fists full of carved stamps because she loves to carve but hates to plant and take care of boxes. I've told her a hundred times that I would take any stamps she decides to send my way!

And just this week, we've started to work on our Alaska Letterboxing Cruise for early July of 2011. We've contacted several cruise lines to try and work the best deal possible with both rates and onboard amenities for those of you who travel with us. Some of the things we've decided, after both researching and talking to past Alaska cruisers is that this will be a one way cruise. Wait - we're not leaving you in Alaska - you get to come home! You would fly into Anchorage and cruise to probably Vancouver for a 7 night cruise that would highlight the glacial inner route.

Sue & I have always wanted to see Alaska and not just from a ship so we're going to add an optional 5 night land adventure that would happen before the cruise but still offer group rates. Much more to come as our plans finalize and I play the cruise lines against each other to get the very best deal possible.

Besides that, plans have begun for the wedding of our youngest son Steve to Katie this coming July. Sue found her dress and she's so glad that's out of the way. I don't have much to do but show up and do some partying that weekend! It's great to be a guy!  :-)

Well, I think that's all the news for now. Great to be back "talking" to you and thanks for stopping by!
